THE VILLAGE BAKER MELMERBY
The Village Bakery Melmerby uses traditional craftsmanship to make tasty and interesting breads and cakes in a way which respects workers, customers and environment alike. It is a small-scale specialist bakery which is leading a rediscovery of retained-heat baking with organic ingredients in wood-fired brick ovens.
Howbarrow sells the award-winning bread from the Village bakery at its farm shop.

Cumbria Organics is a “network of people interested in organic production in and around Cumbria – farmers, growers, processors, retailers and consumers”. It is a new site and aims “to increase communication, awareness and competence among people – in and around Cumbria – who are interested in producing, marketing, promoting and eating organic food”
L’ENCLUME RESTAURANT
A new gastronomic restaurant with private rooms has opened in Cartmel: L’Enclume. Chef patron Simon Rogan has selected Howbarrow to supply his new restaurant with fresh organic produce. We are delighted to support Simon in his ambitious project. In 2003, we will be working with Simon to grow an extensive range of herbs and vegetables for his innovative and flavoursome style of contemporary food.
