OUR SUPPLIERS
Here at Howbarrow, we grow our own herbs and salad vegetables in polytunnels for at least 8 months of the year.
We use local suppliers where possible for other organic products and have a growing number of Cumbrian suppliers.
Atkinsons, Milnthorpe – locally grown vegetables
Growing Well, Low Sizergh Farm, Kendal – locally grown vegetables and hebs
Hawkshead Trout Farm
Country Cuts Organic Meat, Holmrook, Cumbria – for meat
Mansergh Hall, Kirkby Lonsdale – for meat
The Watermill, Little Salkeld, Penrith – for flour and porridge oats
Slack House Farm, Gilsland, Brampton – for cheese
South Lakes Organic Milk, Ulverston – for milk and cream
Lowther Park Farms, Penrith – for chicken
The Fairground, Staveley – for Fairtrade coffee
We get all of our fruit and a lot of our vegetables direct from organic suppliers and growers in the north west. They, in turn, import some of the produce, as, no matter how ‘local’ we try to be, bananas will never be grown in UK!
We currently use:-
Lyncroft Farm, Ormskirk
Goosemoor Organic Produce, Wetherby
And for dried and tinned goods:-
Suma Wholefoods, Elland, Halifax
Juniper Fine Foods, Dumfries
